About the role:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and friendly individual to join our Operations Team as a Community Host. In this role you will be responsible for representing the institution and providing exceptional customer service to our students, staff and guests. “The face of King’s” is how this role should be perceived with the primary focus being the delivery of our reception spaces and the service provision within them. Additionally working as the eyes and ears of Campus Operations throughout all King’s spaces to deliver and support a world class service for a world class university.
Key responsibilities
Welcome and Support:
Serve as the first point of contact in our reception areas, embodying the spirit of "Ask Me" with your approachable, can-do attitude.
Become the familiar face that all users can rely upon for assistance, wayfinding, and information about campus activities.
Maintain a keen awareness of health and safety protocols, promoting a culture of positive behaviours.
Custodians of Our Spaces:
Take ownership of our reception environments, ensuring they are welcoming, clean, and operationally excellent.
Collaborate with the Cleaning and Security Services (CSS) to uphold the highest standards of safety and cleanliness.
Monitor & Report:
Keep a vigilant eye on building occupancy, recording and reporting metrics to highlight potential areas of risk and improvement.
Drive initiatives that encourage positive interactions and efficient movement in our communal spaces.
Health & Safety Audits:
Conduct regular Health and Safety audits, maintaining first aid provisions and reporting any incidents using our Accident Management System.
Play a crucial role in managing signage and ensuring clear information is available across campus.
Respond & Resolve:
Be proactive in reporting acute situations in real-time, working alongside team leaders to ensure a prompt and effective response.
Engage respectfully with students and staff to encourage fluid movement through busy areas
This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About You:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- High level of literacy and numeracy, including Computer literacy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of communicating with people at all levels
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and good organiser
- Flexible approach and good team member
Desirable criteria
- Previous reception experience
- Familiarity with working in higher education sector
