About us
King’s Centre for International Education and Languages (CIEL) a new, cross-cutting Centre designed to widen the educational reach of King’s. It brings together three existing areas: King’s Foundations, Summer Programmes, and King’s Language Centre. Each of these areas is well established, respected and recognised beyond the King’s community. The Centre is focused on enabling collaboration between the three departments to further advance our work in promoting educational excellence and supporting and enhancing the student experience. The Centre has significant expertise in International Education and makes an important contribution to the rich and diverse make-up of the King’s student body.
About the role
The Director of CIEL (Operations and Strategy) provides strategic and operational leadership for CIEL. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Director of King’s Language Centre and other members of the Senior Team, they will shape and deliver a five-year vision and strategic plan aligned with King’s strategic priorities. They are responsible for driving growth and innovation through collaboration with faculties and key central directorates as well as external partners, ensuring effective governance, financial management, and high performance across all CIEL Professional Services functions. The postholder will lead on brand, communications, sustainability, safety and stakeholder engagement to enhance CIEL’s profile and impact, while fostering a culture of excellence, community, inclusion, and strategic alignment across the Centre.
This is a full-time post, and you will be offered an indefinite contract
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience of Professional Services leadership in Higher Education
- Critical analytical skills and experience in strategy development and execution
- Proven project management skills managing to outcomes and deadlines
- At least 3 years’ experience of finance and planning
- A proven track record of stakeholder relationship development and maintenance
- Commitment to high quality educational experience
- Demonstrable integrity and values in leadership style
Desirable criteria
- Experience of identifying opportunities for and delivering sustainable growth
- Proactive problem-solving attitude
- Rigorous attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
- Proactively maintains progress on multiple agendas simultaneously
