The School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine & Sciences (SCMMS), is one of six schools that make up the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine (FoLSM) at King College London. About The Role

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic Professional Services team within the School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine & Sciences at King’s College London. We are looking for a proactive, organised, and highly motivated administrator who enjoys variety in their work and is keen to contribute to a busy, friendly, and high‑performing environment.

In this multi-functional role, you will be provide administrative support at our Principle Investigators at our Denmark Hill Campus, dealing with HR, Finance and Research activities. Your is unique as you will see the full cycle of employees, grant funding and financial operations.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced setting, enjoys building strong working relationships, and is confident managing multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail. You will be part of a collaborative professional community and gain hands‑on experience across a range of administrative, HR and finance functions.

You’ll have strong organisational and communication skills, along with experience using MS Office applications such as Excel, SharePoint and Teams. Knowledge of HR databases or university systems would be an advantage, but training will be provided.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Minimum level 4 qualification, e.g., higher apprenticeship, HNC or other Level 4 award, plus work experience in relevant operations posts OR Considerable knowledge and skills, equivalent to a Level 4 qualification  gained through work experience in relevant operational posts. 
  2. Extensive operational experience using a range of administrative/operational processes, such as event organisation and administration, procurement processes, supporting HR processes, grant costing and monitoring expense against budgets.
  3. Experience managing complex data, undertaking some analysis to identify patterns.
  4. Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  5. Understanding of HR processes and the employee lifecycle within a complex organisation.
  6. Understanding of grant life cycles and importance of reconciliation of activities on grants
  7. Proven ability to interpret and follow well-defined processes and experience of using initiative based on an understanding of the principles underlying processes to solve more complex problems.
  8. Clear written and spoken communication skills with strong interpersonal and influencing/behavioural skills.

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience working in a Higher Education or similarly complex organisational setting.
  2. Understanding of research funding arrangements, and/or university HR/finance processes.
  3. Strong customer service skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  4. Experience supporting events, committees, or project coordination.
