The post will be based in the Centre for Pharmaceutical Medicine Research (CPMR) which has a mission to improve the medicine development and life-cycle process for the benefit of patients, health systems, researchers and industry. It achieves this mission through world-class education and research activities. CPMR has strong collaborations with the pharmaceutical industry and clinical investigators. It works closely with ‘King’s Health Partners’, a partnership between the university, NHS hospitals (Guy’s, St.Thomas’s, and King’s College Hospital, and local NHS trusts. There are phase 1 (normal volunteer and patient) clinical research units with a GMP-qualified manufacturing facility at the Guy’s site.
About The Role
We are seeking a motivated Lecturer in Drug Development. They must be able to contribute to the world-class research and Education in the School of Cancer and Pharmaceutical Sciences. We require a translational scientist with excellent knowledge of the medicines development process that has the ability to bring innovative medical interventions into clinical use. We expect the role holder teach postgraduate students in the field of medicines development and be a key member of staff that contributes to the delivery of a new MSc in Global Medicines Development. We expect the role holder to embed within the existing teaching and research structure at King’s College London.
This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- A PhD in pharmaceutical science, clinical science, translational medicine or equivalent areas where new health interventions have been developed.
- A sound (theoretical and practical) knowledge of the medicines development process, i.e., from drug discovery through to late stage clinical trials.
- Significant experience in designing and executing human clinical trials.
- Engagement in research of outstanding quality.
- Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry or working collaboratively with representatives from the pharmaceutical industry.
- Teaching experience in medicines development.
- Supervision of postgraduate research projects.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of good team working skills.
- Evidence of multidisciplinary collaborations.
