The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC) is based in the heart of central and south London. It includes the Cicely Saunders Institute for Palliative Care, Policy & Rehabilitation, the premier Institute for Palliative Care, bringing together clinical, research and education teams.
Our applied clinical and health multidisciplinary research transforms therapies, the healthcare experience and outcomes for patients and those important to them, wherever they are cared for. Our award-winning NMPC education programmes span pre-registration nursing and midwifery, and multidisciplinary post-graduate taught and research programmes.

About the role
The post-holder will provide research administrative support to the Centre of Excellence in Paediatric Palliative Care team at the Cicely Saunders Institute. The team consists of ~20 academics, researchers and PhD students and is led by Professor Lorna Fraser. The role includes managing Prof Fraser’s diary, communication with external partners, monitoring project tasks and milestones, meeting coordination and administration, processing orders and expenses, and formatting and proofing reports and publications.
This is a part time post (17.5 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract of 24 months.

About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Degree, preferably in relevant area
- Good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication as appropriate to the situation
- Good time management skills with ability to multi-task and prioritise and complete tasks within a set deadline
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with a proven ability to support delivery of projects
- IT literacy to high standard (word processing and typing skills, preparation of presentations and spreadsheets) with understanding of dealing with confidential information
- Excellent relationship building skills, such as with public members, researchers and external networks
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team including researchers, clinicians and patient and public members
Desirable criteria
- Administrative qualification and experience
- Experience dealing with academic reports and manuscripts, including referencing
