About Us

The post will be based at St Thomas’ Hospital in central London in the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences at King’s College London: https://www.kcl.ac.uk/bmeis. There is an unmatched infrastructure within the School to support cutting-edge translational research, including state-of-the-art engineering and physics laboratories, high-performance computing, and industry collaboration through the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering.

About The Role

You will be working in an established team of researchers to develop new technologies for precision treatment delivery for hearing loss. The role entails hardware prototyping of novel solutions, liaising with clinical collaborators and peers working on adjacent technologies, and validating the proposed solutions in bench setups and human tissues.

This is a part time post (7 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31/12/26.

Research staff at King’s are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development. This entitlement, from the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, applies to Postdocs, Research Assistants, Research and Teaching Technicians, Teaching Fellows and AEP equivalent up to and including grade 7. About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: 

Essential criteria

  1. Prior experience in CAD and hardware prototyping (3d printing, CNC machining)
  2. Prior experience working in the context of otology
  3. Relevant publications in the field

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience with QMS (ISO 13485)
  2. Excellent written and spoken English
