About the role
The Deputy Business Manager (Finance & Planning) will ensure the effective financial management and oversight of King's Digital operations. In this role, you will work closely with the Director of Operations, Head of Operations and Strategy, and the Business Manager to support the delivery of business strategies, goals, and objectives, with a particular focus on financial planning, analysis, and operational oversight.
The role is primarily based at JCMB on the King’s Waterloo Campus though you may be required to travel to other campuses on occasion. King’s has a hybrid working scheme where staff may be able to work remotely for part of the week, as determined by required output and departmental need.
This is a permanent full-time post (35 hours per week) and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience in financial management, budgeting, and reporting
- Strong experience in financial analysis, costing, and modelling
- Experience of monitoring spend against budgets and forecasting
- Knowledge of financial controls, governance, and compliance requirements
- Experience producing financial reports and insights for senior stakeholders
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with high attention to detail
- Experience supporting procurement and resource planning processes
- Ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly with non-finance colleagues
Desirable criteria
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
- Experience working in Higher Education, research, academic, or other non-profit sectors
