Role Overview

To be the strategic lead on the University’s understanding of global student recruitment markets, customer behaviour, and portfolio positioning. You will provide authoritative insight that shapes the student recruitment strategy, investment decisions and the product portfolio, identifying risks and potential sources of competitive advantage. Your leadership will guide the strategy that will enable us to achieve our enrolment targets, recruiting students who are already outstanding and those with the potential to succeed.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the University’s market research and insight strategy, ensuring high-quality analysis informs and affects student recruitment, portfolio planning, new programme development and investment decisions. • Provide authoritative and impactful insight on market trends, student demand, pricing, competitor activity and portfolio positioning to support institutional decision making. • Translate complex analysis into clear strategic recommendations for senior stakeholders across GSRA, King’s Digital, faculties and the wider University. • Set the strategic direction for recruitment insights and management information, ensuring clarity, consistency and alignment with information sources outside of GSRA. • Lead the evaluation of recruitment activity, marketing performance and conversion trends to drive continuous improvement for recruitment to pre-degree, undergraduate, postgraduate and online programmes. • Provide in-cycle analysis to steer tactical decision-making and optimise recruitment performance. • Oversee the production of clear, consistent and accessible reporting for different stakeholders and audiences. • Build strong and credible relationships across faculties and directorates to ensure insight and evaluation are embedded in planning and delivery. • Lead, develop and motivate the Market Research and Insight team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture. • Drive the development of effective reporting and data visualisation tools, building capabilities and infrastructure when required.

Essential Criteria

• Significant senior leadership experience in market research, insight and analytics, ideally within higher education or a comparable complex organisation. • Strong understanding of global and domestic higher education markets, pricing and demand dynamics. • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret and evaluate complex data, drawing out key actionable insights. • Proven ability to translate complex data and research into clear strategic recommendations that influence decision-making and deliver measurable impact. • Extensive experience of quantitative and qualitative research methods, and of applying these effectively in practice • Experience of developing clear, accessible and engaging reporting and data visualisation tools. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence credibly at senior level • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience of building capability and leading high-performing teams

Desirable Criteria

• Educated to degree level or equivalent • Understanding of the strategic role of CRM and insight tools in supporting recruitment and conversion performance • Experience of working in a complex, matrixed higher education environment • Experience of Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Power BI reporting.
