For more than four decades Professor Sir Sam Everington has combined clinical practice, research, activism and public service in ways that have shaped primary healthcare in the UK and internationally.
A General Practitioner in Tower Hamlets since 1989, he pioneered neighbourhood health and social prescribing long before they became national policy. Alongside his clinical work, he has advised ministers, served on national bodies, led campaigns on junior doctors' working hours and racial discrimination, and continues to influence NHS reform through his roles with NHS England and the Royal College of General Practitioners.
