Hindi About Hindi evolved from Sanskrit and is part of the Indo-European language family, it is the preferred official language of India, English being the other official language. Hindi has more than 16 dialects. It is one of the top four languages in the world with over 425 million people speaking Hindi as their first language and around 120 million as a second language.
