Overview

By studying Gujarati Level 1, you will be able to communicate in very basic everyday-life situations, including greetings, daily activities, finding your way, telling the time and date, making simple purchases, ordering a meal, etc, be able to understand very simple oral and written texts and ascertain specific information on simple topics, have developed an insight into Gujarati -speaking life, culture and society.

  • At a restaurant - food flavours
  • Quantity and quality
  • Location - 2
  • Family – 2-extended family
  • Household objects - 2
  • Numbers

Functions may include:

  • Meeting a new neighbour
  • Talking about daily routines
  • Asking for and giving basic directions - 1
  • Giving orders and making requests
  • Eating at a restaurant
  • Talking about family

Grammar may include:

  • Possessive pronouns - 2
  • Imperative sentence
  • Oblique noun
  • Adjectives
  • Postposition
  • Interrogative sentence - 2
  • Common verbs - 2
  • Present tense - habitual aspect
  • Sentence structure - subject and verb conjugation
  • Script- Reading, writing and listening to vowels and alphabets- Simple words

What will I achieve?

When Gujarati Level 1 is complete, you will achieve the equivalent of A1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), entry level of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
