By studying Swedish Level 2, you will be able to understand general and detailed information and to communicate in standard speech on a range of everyday issues, be able to read printed and handwritten script on a limited number of everyday topics, be able to write simple texts using descriptive language accurately and have developed intercultural competence.

What does this course cover?

Topics may typically include:

  • Invitations and social events
  • Swedish countryside
  • Typically Swedish
  • Swedish climate
  • Education and jobs

Functions may typically include:

  • Talking about preferences and social events
  • Talking about a visit to the countryside
  • Discussing some Swedish characteristics and habits and talking about a typical Swedish family (“Medelsvensson”)
  • Write about a typical family from your country
  • Reading a factual text about the Swedish climate – discuss and compare other countries’ climates and seasons
  • Talking about experiences and plans for the future

Grammar may typically include:

  • Indirect speech
  • Subordinate clauses
  • Subordinating conjunctions
  • Word order
  • Relative pronoun “där”
  • Possessive pronouns (revision)
  • Reflexive possessive pronouns (‘sin’, ‘sitt’, ‘sina’)
  • Adjectives (revision)
  • Adverbs and prepositions, time


What will I achieve?

When Swedish Level 2 is complete, you will achieve the equivalent of A1/A2 level of the CEFR, level 1 of the RQF, equivalent of GCSE/ O-level grade A.
