Overview

By studying Swedish Level 3, you will be able to understand authentic passages on familiar issues and communicate on a variety of subjects using accurate pronunciation and intonation and a range of language and structure, be able to read and summarize a limited number of authentic texts, be able to write more complex texts on familiar issues and have further developed intercultural competence.

What does this course cover?

Topics may typically include:

  • Wildlife in Sweden
  • Leisure time, social life, good and bad habits
  • Swedish government and political system
  • Swedish constitutions

Functions may typically include:

  • Understanding and discussing non-fictional texts and graphs
  • Talking about social life and good and bad habits
  • Talking about Swedish politics and the role of the royal family
  • Writing about political statistics using a diagram

Grammar may typically include:

  • Verbs: present participle, irregular verbs, conditional form, present future tense (“kommer att”, “ska”, “tänker”)
  • Coordinating adverbs
  • Verbs with particles
  • Prepositions
  • Subordinating conjunctions
  • Word order – indirect speech
  • Relative pronouns
  • Adverbs indicating location and motion (to and from a place)

What will I achieve?

When Swedish Level 3 is complete, you will achieve the equivalent of A2/B1 level of the CEFR, level 2 of the RQF.
