What does King's Legal Clinic do?
Can King's Legal Clinic help on any matter?
King's Legal Clinic is a free to use advice-only legal service. Our clinic offers advice on a range of legal issues.
Students working under the supervision of a qualified lawyer will interview you, analyse your problem, research the issues, and send a written letter of advice normally within two weeks of the interview.
Because the students are supervised throughout by a qualified lawyer, you can be assured that the advice you receive will be to the same standard as it would be if you had paid for that advice.

Can we represent clients in court?
We cannot offer appointments to everyone who contacts us. Nor can we provide advice on all legal issues.
We currently offer appointments through the following services:
There are some areas of the law or disputes which we are not able to offer advice on or help mediate with. Some areas we cannot help with are:
We look at a number of factors to decide if we can take a case on, including:
- How urgent the matter is;
- If the matter is suitable for mediation; or
- Whether we have the expertise to be able to advise.
If we cannot help, we will refer you to an alternative legal service provider who may be able to help.
Do you charge for the advice you give?
We do not undertake casework or represent clients in the courts or at tribunals.However, we can signpost clients to other free legal advice providers who are able to offer representation in court or at a tribunal.
The service offered by King's Legal Clinic is completely free. We do not charge for the advice we give and do not accept gifts or donations either.

When do we offer appointments?
We will generally hold appointments on Wednesdays afternoons and/or evenings. However, please bear in mind that appointments may need to be scheduled on other days depending on availability.
King's Legal Clinic is now open again for the academic year 2018/19.
Please note we currently only have appointments starting from January/February 2019 onwards.
How do I request an appointment?
To request an appointment, please complete our online form.
Our Clinic staff assess all requests to see if it is something suitable for the clinic to assist with. If further information is required to help us better assess whether your case is suitable or not, we will get in touch by telephone or email.
We aim to get back in touch as soon as possible after receiving your completed form to let you know if we are able to assist or not.
If we are able to take on your case, we will book you in for an appointment and send you a confirmation letter setting out your appointment date and time, directions on how to get to King's Legal Clinic and a detailed explanation of our service and how we work.
If we are unable to assist you, we will try to signpost you to alternative organisations that may be able to help.
Please note: we do not offer a drop-in service or advice over the telephone. We are only able to help you if you have been offered an appointment.
