Upcoming Events at the Centre of European Law

Brexit Seminar Series

The Centre of European Law has been engaged in running a series of seminar events under the title: Brexit Means Brexit, But What Does Brexit Mean? The series ran for the duration of the 2016/17 academic year, within which 12 events were conducted to discuss the challenges, options, opportunities and possibilities that Brexit may bring to the substantive topics covered in those seminars. Following the success of the series, the Centre of European Law will be running more events on the subject of Brexit, as details of the meaning of Brexit continue to emerge. These will include the launch of Brexit: The Legal Implications publication which follows the seminar series, co-edited by Director Professor Andrea Biondi and Research Fellow Maria Kendrick. Further events and details of the same will be advertised in due course.

Brexit Update:

With the advent of a Withdrawal Agreement text being agreed between UK and EU negotiators, there has been both an achievement of certainty over the content of the extensive legal terms that may apply to the UK’s withdrawal, and a concurrent sense of political uncertainty whilst this text is presented for agreement by both the EU 27 and the UK Parliament. Neither is a given. The Centre of European Law members - including its Directors, Research Fellows and Scholars - are continuing to engage with developments directly, and in supporting colleagues engaged with the impact of Brexit elsewhere in Kings College London, particularly the UK in a Changing Europe project. Members of the Centre of European Law will also continue to engage in the development of the framework for a future agreement, and publications on Brexit and its legal implications are to follow shortly.
