Accessing eresources

Login instructions for popular eresources

 

Here is a list of popular eresources with login instructions. Click on the + sign and follow the step-by-step text instructions. The tips and notes contain additional useful information for the eresource.

 

Brill Online

• Once you are on Brill Online click on ‘Sign in via your institution’ on the right hand side.
• In the ‘Sign in with Shibboleth’ section scroll down the list of institutions to find ‘King’s College London’ and click on ‘Go to sign in’.
• This will take you to the King’s Shibboleth login screen. Enter your King’s username and password.
• You will be taken back to the page you were previously on in Brill Online. You can see you are logged in from the words ‘Access provided by King's College London’ on the right hand side.

TIP: Journals we have access to will have a green icon next to the issues and articles. If you have logged in successfully and you cannot see the green icon, please use our list of Ejournals to check if we subscribe to the journal and what years we are entitled to access.

NOTE: If you are logging in to Brill Online for the first time, the platform may not log you in properly and you may see the message ‘Incomplete personal user’. If this happens, please close down your browser completely, open a new browser window, wait 10 minutes, and try to log in again. You should now be logged in successfully, with ‘King’s College London’ displaying correctly on the right hand side.

Cambridge University Press

• Once you are on the Cambridge University Press journals website click on ’Log in‘ in the top right hand corner of the page and select ’Institutional login’.
• Select ’UK/UK Federation‘ in the panel on the left. Scroll down the list of institutions in the panel on the right and select ‘King’s College London’
• This will take you to the King’s Shibboleth login screen. Enter your King’s username and password.
• You will be taken back to the page you were previously on in Cambridge University Press and a pop up message will tell you ’You are successfully logged in via your institutional account’.

TIP: Journals we have access to will have a green icon next to the issues and articles. If you are logged in successfully and you cannot see the green icon, please use our list of Ejournals to check if we subscribe to the journal and what years we are entitled to access.

Elsevier - Science Direct and Scopus

The logging in process for Elsevier ScienceDirect ejournals and the Scopus database is the same.

Note: You do not need to log in to search SciVerse, but you may need to log in if you then try to access the full-text of any ejournals on ScienceDirect.

• Once you are on the ScienceDirect or Scopus website click on ‘Log in’ in the top right hand corner of the page and select ‘Go to Athens/Institution login’.
• Select ‘UK Access Management Federation’ from the drop-down list in the ‘Choose your institution’s region or group’ field.
• Scroll down the list and click on ‘King’s College London’.
• This will take you to the King’s Shibboleth login screen. Enter your King’s username and password.
• You will be taken back to the page you were previously on in ScienceDirect or Scopus. You can see you are logged in from the King’s logo on the right hand side at the top of the page.

NOTE: If it still says ‘Guest’ at the top of the page when you have logged into Science Direct, click on the Scopus link at the top of the page before you do anything else (or vice versa), and try to log in from there instead. Sometimes a login problem affects only one of these two resources. Once you have logged in successfully and you can see the King’s logo at the top of the page on the right, you can navigate back to the other resource by using the links at the top of the page.

Emerald

• Once you are on the Emerald network homepage click on ‘Login’ at the top of the page and then select ‘Shibboleth’ from the login options.
• Select ‘UK Higher Education’ from the ‘Geographic Region’ dropdown menu and then scroll down and select ‘King’s College London’ from the list.
• This will take you to the King’s Shibboleth login screen. Enter your King’s username and password.
• You will be taken back to the home page of Emerald. You can see you are logged in as ‘King’s College London’ will be displayed on the right hand side at the top of the page.

 TIP: Journals we have access to will have a green coloured square next to the issues and articles. If you are logged in successfully and you cannot see the green icon, please use our list of Ejournals to check if we subscribe to the journal and what years we are entitled to access.

(i-Law) Insurance & Reinsurance

• Access from the Database A-Z list or directly from platform
• From landing page select 'login'.
• Enter your King's email address and select 'login'.
• Enter your King's email address and select 'login'.
• Accept terms and conditions and click 'continue'.

NOTE: For Off-campus access please use the King's Remote App  and follow the steps listed above. You should be prompted to accept terms and conditions only the first time you attempt to access the database.

JAMA Network

• Once you are on the JAMA network homepage click on ‘Institutional sign in’ and then ‘Sign in via Shibboleth’ at the top of the page.
• Select ‘UK Access Management Federation’ from the ‘Location’ dropdown menu, and ‘King’s College London’ from the ‘Institution’ dropdown menu and click ‘Select’.
• This will take you to the King’s Shibboleth login screen. Enter your King’s username and password.
• You will be taken back to the home page of JAMA. You can see you are logged in as ‘King’s College London’ will be displayed on the right hand side at the top of the page.

TIP: When you are on the home page you can use the ‘Journals’ dropdown menu to search for the journal you require, or you can either go back to your article reference, our list of Ejournals or the SFX pop-up window you were coming from, and click on the full-text link again. This should take you directly to the article or journal you want to access.

JSTOR

• Once you are on the JSTOR website, click on ‘Login’ at the top right hand corner of the page.
• If you do not see King’s College London displayed in the ‘Login via an institution’ box, start typing King’s College London into the ‘Search by name’ field. Please make sure you type King’s with an apostrophe.
• The correct option is ‘King’s College, London’. Click Search, and click Login next to King’s College, London.
• This will take you to the King’s Shibboleth login screen. Enter your King’s username and password.
• You will then be taken back to the page you were previously on in JSTOR. You can see you are logged in from the words ‘Your access to JSTOR provided by King's College London’ at the side of the screen.

TIP: Instead of accessing JSTOR by choosing an individual ejournal via our list of Ejournals, you can access it from our list of Databases. You will see there are two options: ‘On campus only’ and ‘King’s username’. If you are off-campus, select ‘King’s username’, which will take you to the King’s Shibboleth login screen. After entering your King’s username and password you will be taken to the homepage of JSTOR, already logged in, where you can search for journals and articles.

Ovid

•Off campus users have 2 options:

  1. Log in using the 'Institutional Login' link located under the main Ovid login screen
  2. Log in via the King’s remote app and then access from A-Z list of databases

• If searching for a journal, click on the 'Journals' tab on the top and search for the journal title. This will send you to the journal's landing page, where you can search or browse for articles within that title.

• You can either search a selection of databases, or click onto a tab at the top of the page. If you try searching 'All resources' and receive an error message, please search for just a selection. Please note that some databases only allow one user at a time. Please try again in a few minutes.

 

 

Oxford Scholarship Online

• Once you are on the Oxford Scholarship Online website, search for the ebook title and chapter you are interested in.
• After selecting the chapter/section, you will see a page asking you to ‘Please, subscribe or login to access full text content.
• Click on the ‘login’ option. Look at the blue box at the left hand side of the screen. Please ignore the red message saying ‘This account has no valid subscription for this site’ and click on the ‘Login with Athens/Access Management Federation’ option.
• Start typing King’s College London into the ‘Filter list by institution name’ box and click on King’s College London.
• This will take you to the King’s Shibboleth login screen. Enter your King’s username and password.
• You will then be taken back to the ebook section or page you were previously on in Oxford Scholarship Online. You can see you are logged in from the words ‘Access brought to you by King's College London’ at the bottom right hand side of the screen.

TIP: Instead of accessing Oxford Scholarship Online by choosing an individual ebook via the Library catalogue, you can access Oxford Scholarship Online through our list of Databases. This allows you to search or browse the resources within Oxford Scholarship Online. If you are off campus, you will be brought to the Oxford Scholarship Online home page with the blue log-in box, where you can login and search for ebooks.

Quintessence

 

• Once you are on the Quintessence homepage click on ‘Subscriber Access – Login’ on the left hand side.
• Enter the username and password for the journal you wish to access taken from the Passwords page and click ‘Submit’.
• You will be taken back to the home page of the journal. You can see you are logged in as the panel on the left will have changed to read “Subscriber Access – Logout”.

 TIP: Try clicking ‘Logout’, deleting cookies or opening a private browsing window if the login does not work.

 

SAGE

• Once you are on SAGE journals click on 'My Account' and then ‘Sign in’ at the top of the page and select ‘Login via Your Institution’.
• Select ‘UK Access Management Federation’ from the ‘Location’ dropdown menu, and ‘King’s College London’ from the ‘Institution’ dropdown menu and click ‘Select’.
• This will take you to the King’s Shibboleth login screen. Enter your King’s username and password.
• You will be taken back to the home page of SAGE. You can see you are logged in from the King’s logo displaying on the right hand side at the top of the page.

TIP: If you tick ‘Remember this selection’ on the Sign In Via Your Institution Page then SAGE will remember your Location and Institution choices.

TIP: Click ‘Browse journals by discipline’ and ‘SAGE Journals Available to Me’ you can restrict the displayed results to titles that King’s has access to.

Senate House Library eresources

King’s pays for its students to have membership of Senate House Library for the duration of their studies. This includes remote access to most of their online resources. Please click here for more information on joining Senate House Library.

Once you have joined, you can access Senate House Library’s eresources via our list of Senate House Library Databases.

To log into these resources, please enter your name and the barcode number on your Senate House Library card.

SpringerLink

• Once you are on SpringerLink click on ‘Sign up/Log in’ at the top of the page and select ‘Institutional login/Athens’.
• Start typing ‘King’s College London’ in the ‘Select your institution’ field underneath ‘Find your institution (via Shibboleth)’.
• Click on ‘Login via Shibboleth’.
• This will take you to the King’s Shibboleth login screen. Enter your King’s username and password.
• You will be taken back to the home page of SpringerLink. You can see you are logged in from the King’s logo displaying on the right hand side at the top of the page.

TIP: When you are on the home page you can use the search box to search for the journal you require, or you can either go back to your article reference, our list of Ejournals or the SFX pop-up window you were coming from, and click on the full-text link again. This should take you directly to the article or journal you want to access.

TIP: If you are logged in successfully you will see the options ’download PDF’ and ’view article’ under articles we have access to. If you do not see these options, please use our list of Ejournals to check if we subscribe to the journal and what years we are entitled to access.

Taylor & Francis

 

• Once you are on Taylor & Francis Online click on ‘Sign in’ at the top of the page.
• Click on ‘Sign in via Shibboleth’.
• Select ‘UK Higher Education’ in the ‘Region or group’ box.
• Scroll down and click on ‘King’s College London’.
• This will take you to the King’s Shibboleth login screen. Enter your King’s username and password.
• You will be taken back to the page you were previously on in Taylor & Francis. You can see you are logged in from the words ‘Access provided by King's College London’ at the top of the screen.

TIP: Journal volumes we have access to will have a green icon next to the issues. If you are logged in successfully and you cannot see the green icon, please use our list of Ejournals to check if we subscribe to the journal and what years we are entitled to access.

 

Wiley Online Library

• Once you are on Wiley Online Library click on ‘Log in’ at the top of the page.
• Start typing ‘King’s College London’ into the ‘Institution Name’ field. Please make sure you type King’s with an apostrophe. Ignore all options which say Athens, and click on ‘King's College London.
• This will take you to the King’s Shibboleth login screen. Enter your King’s username and password.
• You will then be taken back to the home page of Wiley

Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS)

• Access to this resource is restricted to Business School students and staff.
Undergraduates and Masters students: Access is via a Class account created by your tutor. If you have forgotten the login credentials please check your module on Keats or contact your course lecturer or School administrator.
• PhD students and Academic staff: Registration via the WRDS platform
• Remote Access: The WRDS platform can be accessed remotely using the King's Remote App
