Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience

The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) is committed to developing and extending its relationships across London.

Many London-focused initiatives within IoPPN cut across research, education and service to society.

Faculty collaborations with London include:

  • Co-developing the Pears Maudsley Centre for Children & Young People with South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, creating a centre of excellence to research child and adolescent mental health.
  • Working with more than 3,000 school pupils across south London through the REACH Study to better understand ways to promote good mental health in young people from all backgrounds.
  • Working closely with our local communities alongside our partner NHS Trusts on a diverse range of research projects. These include engaging local young people in discussions and interventions focused on drug and alcohol use, as well as initiatives aimed at improving mental health in school children and young people.
  • Working to inspire young people from under-represented groups to consider higher education through collaborations with local primary and secondary schools and the Faculty’s Youth Awards – aimed at secondary school students – which engage local young people with IoPPN’s work.
  • Collaborating with local communities in south-east London through the Health Inequalities Research Network (HERON) to explore health and healthcare experiences through physical activities, school partnerships and creative experiences.
