The Dickson Poon School of Law

The Dickson Poon School of Law is well placed to strengthen King's position as a civic university at the heart of London.

Maximising legal connections across the capital, the School of Law seeks to consolidate strong existing partnerships while developing new relationships and outreach activities across London and King's home boroughs.

Faculty collaborations with London include:

  • King's Legal Clinic is a free to use advice-only legal service for local communities. Students, working under the supervision of a qualified lawyer, interview clients, analyse their problem, research the issues and send them a written letter of advice. Students are supervised throughout by a qualified lawyer ensuring that clients are assured that the advice they receive will be to the same standard as it would be if they had paid for that advice.
  • The Dickson Poon School of Law also offers free community mediation through the King’s Mediation Project; a collaboration between King's Legal Clinic and KCL Pro Bono Society.
  • Students from The Dickson Poon School of Law are mentoring ex-offenders as they develop and launch their own businesses. Run in partnership with the Resume Foundation in Peckham, Project ReMAKE supports former prisoners as they rebuild their lives.
  • The Dickson Poon School of Law continues to develop connections with the London-based legal practice industry by entering into educational partnerships, such as the Executive LLM programme for professionals, developed in partnership with the International Bar Association.
