Speaker: Dr Valentin Fuster, Director of Mount Sinai Heartand Physician-in-Chief of The Mount Sinai Hospital and General Director of the Spanish National Center for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC)

Chair: Professor Peter Parker, King's College London

About the speaker: Dr. Fuster has been named Doctor Honoris Causa by Thirty-three universities around the world. Among his many achievements, it is noteworthy that Dr. Fuster is the only cardiologist to have received the highest awards for research from the four leading international cardiology organizations: the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology, and the InteramericanSociety of Cardiology.He is an author on more than 900 scientific articles, and has published as lead Editor of two leading books on clinical cardiology and research. In addition to his dedication in research, he is strongly committed to his responsibility to communicate to the public, and he has published six well-received books during the past four years. Dr Fuster is the inspiration for a Muppet doctor on Sesame Street. The character named “ Dr Fuster" is helping to educate children to lead healthier lifestyles through exercise and healthy diet.
