Professor Greenough appointed to HEFCE board

Professor Anne Greenough, Head of the School of Medicine, is one of three new members appointed to the Board of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

HEFCE’s role is to distribute public money for teaching and research to universities and colleges. In doing so, it aims to promote high quality education and research, within a financially healthy sector. The Council also plays a key role in ensuring accountability and promoting good practice.

Professor Greenough brings a wealth of clinical and academic knowledge and experience to the HEFCE board. As well as the Head of the School of Medicine, Professor Greenough is also Professor of Clinical Respiratory Physiology at King’s as well as director of the tertiary neonatal intensive care unit at King's College Hospital. She is also Director of Education and Training for King’s Health Partners.

Professor Greenough says she is delighted to be appointed to the HEFCE board, and will formally take up her role on 1 September 2011
