Medicine at King's in world's top 20

Medicine at King’s has been ranked 19th in the world in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject, published last week. This result represents an upwards move of four places since last year’s rankings.

The QS rankings are designed ‘to help students identify the best universities in the world in their discipline’. QS provides rankings of the world’s top universities in 30 subject areas, including medicine. The ranking assesses universities based on their ‘academic reputation, employer reputation and research citations per paper, within each subject area’. For this edition of the rankings, 3,002 universities were evaluated, of which 689 institutions were ranked, and the provision of 10,639 programmes.

This result reaffirms King’s College London's School of Medicine’s position as one of the UK's most established and successful centres for medical research and teaching. As a member of King’s Health Partners, the School’s £49 million research portfolio is closely aligned to three leading NHS Foundation Trust partners: Guy’s and St Thomas’, King’s College Hospital and South London and Maudsley. The School hosts 12 externally-awarded and funded specialist centres including two prestigious MRC Centres in transplantation and asthma.

The School delivers a comprehensive education and training portfolio, from undergraduate programmes in medicine and for allied health professions, to professional graduate training and research. As part of a multi-faculty institution, students benefit from some unique study options encompassing the humanities, social and natural sciences.

King’s College London is currently ranked at 19th equal in the world by QS.  The College features in the world's elite (Top 200) institutions in 19 of the 30 subjects featured in this year's QS World University Rankings by Subject.
