Spiritual Care in Palliative Care Conference
On 24 November 2014, the Sir Halley Stewart Trust, Cicely Saunders International and King’s College London were delighted to host 'Spiritual care in palliative care: recent European research and future developments', a one-day international conference to present the latest research in spiritual care in palliative care.
The conference was fully booked, with approximately 100 attendees from across Europe. The programme included recent research into priorities for spiritual care research, patients’ and family caregivers’ spiritual needs and preferences regarding spiritual care, the provision of care in community and nursing home settings, healthcare professional training and the assessment of spiritual outcomes.
Presenters included Dr Lucy Selman and Dr Jonathan Koffman from the Cicely Saunders Institute and the event was chaired by Rev Dr Peter Speck. The prize for the best research poster went to Rev. Hamilton Inbadas, Doctoral Student at the University of Nottingham, for his research on 'Understanding spirituality at the end of life in India: A historical-cultural approach'.
