Professor Thais Russomano new appointment

November 2012 saw the appointment of Professor Thais Russomano, Head of the Microgravity Centre/PUCRS in Brazil and Senior Lecturer at CHAPS/KCL to the International Astronautical Federation's Space Life Sciences Committee.

The Committee deals with issues related to space and space-related activities associated with human and animal physiology, psychology and behavioral issues, medical care and countermeasures to the negative effects of space flight on humans, radiation effects and health consequences, biology of animals and plants, life support in space and on other worlds, and engineering and science of extravehicular activity.

The appointment is for a term of three years and is recognition of her lengthy contribution to this field.
