The SpLab is interested on mechanism of immune activation and tolerance, from molecules to cells and whole individuals. The group focuses on the interaction between cellular metabolism and immune function, more specifically on how the cholesterol biosynthesis pathway is able to regulate immune-resolution in both T and B cells. They have also evidence of the relevance of the cholesterol metabolism in in vivo models of disease and they are now widening these observations. Espe and her team will work at the Centre for Inflammation Biology and Cancer Immunology (CIBCI), where she will also be involved in the Rheumatology translational portfolio development, in close relationship with the Clinical Trials Group.
