The Centre for Inflammation Biology and Cancer Immunology (CIBCI) views the recruitment of top-level students and fellows as an essential part of meeting our objectives.
We aim to attract both national and international students into highly competitive PhD studentships and clinical training fellowships, and foster collaborations to develop PhD training networks. In doing so, we contribute to the training of the future generation of basic and clinician scientists. In recent years we have trained many PhD students through various PhD studentships or programmes including Arthritis Research UK, BBSRC CASE studentships, King’s Bioscience Institute and NIHR-Biomedical Research Centre MRes/PhD programme in Biomedical and Translational Science, King’s Health Schools studentships, and the Oliver Bird Rheumatism Programme.
We have also attracted outstanding postdoctoral scientists and clinical fellows.CIBCI staff members contribute in addition to existing MSc programmes in Rheumatology and Immunology, and provide research projects for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
To enhance the training of our students and postdocs, CIBCI holds weekly journal clubs and two-weekly work-in-progress (WIP) meetings. In addition, our students and staff attend and contribute to the School of Immunology & Microbial Sciences Events such as weekly Research Update Conferences (RUCs) and the monthly School showcases. The Centre also holds an annual away day where students and postdocs present their recent research findings.
