Dr Anna Goodman

DPhil, MRCP(Infectious Diseases), FRCPath, DipHIV, DTM&H, MA(Oxon) MB BS

Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Clinical Infectious Diseases

Education: MA (Oxon), MB BS, DPhil (Oxon)

Specialist interests: Malaria, Vaccines, Community-acquired Bacterial Infections and antimicrobial resistance

AGoodmanAnna obtained her DPhil from the University of Oxford in 2009 with the support of an MRC clinical research training fellowship award. She developed novel vaccines against the blood-stage of malaria and worked on the development of vaccines to prevent transmission of malaria. During an NIHR clinical lectureship at UCL she continued this work with mechanisms designed to harness the immune system focusing on Th17 responses in particular. This was in an effort to improve host immune responses to bacterial vaccines including against TB and pneumococcus.

She joined the Centre for Clinical Infection and Diagnostics Research (CIDR) in 2014, based predominantly in the Directorate of Infection on the St Thomas’ Hospital site. Current research is focused on malaria and vaccines as areas of continued interest whilst she develops a new direction in community-acquired bacterial infections and antimicrobial resistance in view of her recent appointment as a Consultant in Infectious Diseases.                                        email anna.goodman@gstt.nhs.uk
