Skin Therapy Research Unit

Clinical Trials

St John’s Institute of Dermatology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ has a world-leading reputation for patient care and skin research. Our research covers many areas, including studies to understand the cause of skin conditions and clinical trials to test new skin treatments.

Our areas of interest include psoriasis, eczema, skin cancer, epidermolysis bullosa (EB), sun related skin conditions, hidradenitis suppurativa, urticaria and skin disease in children.

Clinical Research Studies in Inflammatory Skin Disease

We are interested in the causes and mechanisms underlying inflammatory skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis and acne, including understanding the genetic basis of these conditions and how this interacts with the environment.

We also have a programme of research that aims to improve outcomes in these diseases including identification of biomarkers that predict outcomes of importance to patients and the longer-term safety of medicines we use for treatment.  The clinical and sample data generously donated by patients and public is vital to this research.

Current clinical trials open for recruitment

All our current clinical trials and research studies are listed and updated on the dermatology research page on the Guy's and St Thomas' website.

You can also find more information on our research studies page.
