Athena SWAN

Athena SWAN is a Charter which recognises excellence in an institution's commitment to gender equality. Over the past decade, the principal focus of Athena SWAN has been on the progression of women academics and researchers in the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM).

King's College London gained its bronze institutional award in 2008 and renewed this award in 2013.

Before 2017, the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences was known as the Division for Imaging Sciences and Biomedical Engineering. The Division had a Self-Assessment Team (SAT) whose principal responsibility was to guide the Division in its preparation and submission of an Athena SWAN Silver Award application.

The Application and Action Plan was submitted in December 2015 and we were awarded Silver in March 2016. You can see membership of the SAT and details of our plans in the Application and Action Plan.
