Research & Impact
Professor Gareth Jones of Cell Biology at the Randall Division of Cell & Molecular Biophysics, delivered the 2013 Huang-Chan Memorial Lecture to the University of Hong Kong on 19 November to an audience including academics, members of the public and family members.
‘It was a great honour to be asked to deliver the lecture,’ commented Professor Jones. ‘Dr Huang-Chan was a highly respected teacher of Anatomy at the University, much loved by the students of the time who set up the foundation of the lecture series to be held in her name. The list of 41 previous speakers contains a daunting string of Nobel laureates and academic luminaries so I did feel some pressure to live up to the high expectations of the assembled audience. I chose the theme of my lecture on the migratory properties of immune cells to fit with the research interests of the late Dr Huang-Chan, something much appreciated by her family members, who were guests of honour at the lecture.’
