Gene regulatory networks in somite development

Large scale gene expression analysis and transcription factor binding site location to determine the gene regulatory network controlled by Meox transcription factors in somite development. Bioinformatics, gene expression analysis in embryos (mouse, chick, zebrafish), morpholino and siRNA to perform knockdown analysis on candidate target genes in embryos (chick, zebrafish) and in vitro cell culture.

Muscle patterning in the developing limb

Gene expression analysis and Meox2 mutant embryo analysis to characterise muscle –tendon interactions. Chick embryos and explant culture assays to investigate retinoic acid signalling in early limb muscle and tendon differentiation.

Meox targets in limb myogenesis

Identification and analysis of transcriptional regulatory elements of muscle regulatory factors controlled by Meox transcription factors. Retinoic acid signalling in coordinating myogenic and tendon differentiation in the limb. Mouse and chick embryos, explant cultures. Signalling.
