The Division has several major research programmes including complement, coagulation and inflammation and immune biology, T cell differentiation and T cell regulation, as well as cell and protein therapeutics. It also includes a section of Surgical Innovation and a section on Research Ethics. It unites expertise in basic immunology and transplantation biology at King’s with clinical research teams at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust and King’s College Hospital who manage some of the largest transplant-patient cohorts in Europe to deliver excellence in research at an internationally competitive level, and pursue top quality patient-orientated studies.

The Division serves as a base for two major cross-cutting centres: The MRC Centre for Transplantation and the NIHR Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre Transplant Theme..

Research sections

The five research sections are based at both Guy’s and Denmark Hill campuses of King’s College London with close integration with the two local NHS Trusts – King’s College Hospital and Guys’ and St Thomas’.
