Genetic Analysis and Monitoring of Biomarkers of Immunological Tolerance

Kidney transplantation is the main treatment for children and adults with kidney failure and leads to substantial improvements in the quality of life for our patients. The major problems that transplant patients face are rejection, increased risk of cancer, severe cardiovascular disease and complications of the drugs used to damp down the immune response to prevent rejection; children are particularly affected by these drugs.

We are trying to identify markers that will help us improve treatment in transplant recipients.
