Paediatric Respiratory Physiology

Paediatric Respiratory Physiology Group

The Paediatric Respiratory Physiology Group is led by Professor Anne Greenough and research within the group focuses on three main aims:

  • to evaluate new antenatal assessment methods to predict chronic respiratory morbidity in neonates.
  • to assess the importance of airway size and genetic predisposition in determining the long term respiratory outcome for premature infants who develop Respiratory Scincitial Virus (RSV) infection. This will help prevent chronic respiratory morbidity following premature birth.
  • to develop appropriate lung function tests for all ages (including those receiving intensive care). These tests are being developed to help manage young children with asthma and determine the impact of liver disease on pulmonary function.
