Further Mathematics: A course for teachers

Our Further Mathematics course for teachers aims to develop the subject knowledge and associated pedagogy of A-level Further Mathematics material. It is particularly aimed at teachers who want to explore the maths that underlies the core curriculum.

Participants on the course attend six central training days at the maths school and are in addition assigned a senior mentor who will visit the participant at their school. Participants are also invited to spend half a day observing lessons at the maths school.  At the central training days we look at some of the key concepts in further mathematics (across all exam boards). We cover the subject knowledge and simultaneously consider the associated pedagogy. The school visits are intended to help participants plan sequences of lessons, to implement ideas from the training days and to develop their classroom practice.
