Mathematics Forum

Our termly forums for mathematics teachers cover a range of topics – subject knowledge, pedagogy, mathematical research to a name a few!

These termly CPD sessions are absolutely free of charge and run from 15:30 to 18:00.

The dates and titles for this year's remaining fora are:

Tuesday 19 March

Exploring the calculus journey in A Level mathematics

Further information and how to sign up

The schedule for this forum is:

15:30 Arrival and refreshments

15:40 What's on the journey? - we'll review the material to be covered, and propose a scheme that takes students on this journey

15:55 Key techniques in Differentiation - during this session we'll consider how we might develop the skills needed by students so that they have the necessary tools to do questions, but also understand how these work and what their limitations are

16:45 Break and further networking

17:00 Integration as a guess and check process - here we'll look at how far students can get by considering the question "what did I differentiate to get...?" and how we as teachers might help them to explore the connection between these "anti-derivatives" and areas

17:50 Feedback and depart
