We have 15 active researchers, including seven professors. All our staff submitted their books, articles, scores, or performances to the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) and 78% of our work was recognised as being of world-leading (4*) or of internationally excellent (3*) standard.
At present the Music Department has 52 postgraduate research students studying for a doctorate on an astonishing range of topics. Several have secured funding support from the London Arts and Humanities Partnership (LAHP). Our Department runs weekly research seminars for students, staff and guests, acting as a central London platform for scholars, composers and music professionals from around the country and abroad.
