5 minutes with Steven Catchpole

Steven Catchpole recently joined the Department of Medical & Molecular Genetics as Senior Technical Officer. He is responsible for the smooth running of the Department's technical services. Outside of work, he is renovating his house.We spent 5 minutes with Steven to learn more about his career, what he enjoys about working at King's and life outside of work.

Briefly, tell me about your background and career up to this point at King’s?

I am a research scientist by training. I started my career as a scientist at GSK and received further training at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Cancer Research UK and King's College London where I was awarded my PhD.

What is a typical day like for you?

I work with scientists, professional services and external organizations to ensure the efficient day to day running of the research facility. I provide the training, services and a safe working environment for research and teaching.

What is your favourite part of your current role?

Interacting with co-workers and problem solving

What do you do with your time outside of King’s?

I currently spend my time renovating my home and listening to music
