Award recognises academic's 'outstanding service' to profession
A King’s College London academic has received a prestigious prize in recognition of the “phenomenal breadth and quality” of his research.

The Britain & Ireland Association for Political Thought (BIAPT) awarded Dr Paul Sagar its Mid-Career Prize, an award which celebrates scholars who have made significant contributions to research and teaching in political thought.
In receiving the award, Dr Sagar became the first academic to have won both the BIAPT’s early-career prize and the mid-career prize.
Maxime Lepoutre, secretary of the BIAPT, said: “The panel praised the phenomenal breadth and quality of Dr Sagar's research, notably his contributions to the history of political thought, to political realism, and to theorising about equality, his passionate and demanding approach to teaching, and his outstanding service to the profession.
“The panel particularly appreciated his bracingly honest reviews of his peers' work and deeply impactful public engagement. With this prize, Dr Sagar is the first scholar to have won both the BIAPT early-career prize and the BIAPT mid-career prize, underscoring his continued record of achievement over his career.”

Dr Sagar, from the Department of Political Economy at King’s, said: “I am honoured to receive this prize. If somebody had told me three years ago that I would be collecting an award for my contributions to scholarship and teaching, I would simply not have believed them.
“I am extraordinarily grateful to the colleagues and friends - political theorists or otherwise - who helped me get to this point. I could not have done it alone.”
