James is an excellent recipient of the prestigious Otto Hutter Prize because his love of physiology underpins both his teaching and his research. He is an inspirational and innovative educator and a valued member of the Physiology Department at King’s.

Dr James Clark wins Otto Hutter physiology prize
Dr James Clark, School of Cardiovascular Medicine & Sciences, has been awarded the 2019 Otto Hutter prize for teaching physiology.
The Otto Hutter prize was launched by the Physiological Society in 2009 and is awarded annually to academics who have demonstrated innovation and excellence in undergraduate physiology teaching.
Dr Clark’s achievements in physiology teaching at King’s include a new practical and assessment format which has increased student satisfaction and an online screencast which undergraduate students use for data analysis, presentation and statistics support.
As part of the award, Dr Clark will present a prize lecture at Europhysiology 2020 in Berlin.
I am delighted to have been awarded the Otto Hutter teaching prize for 2019. Teaching physiology and running a physiology programme is an enormous pleasure and something that I feel I am very lucky to be able to do. It is an honour to be recognised by the Physiological Society with the prize and I would like to thank the staff of the Physiology Department at King’s for making it such a great environment to work in.
