Dr Julia Philippou confirmed as Vice Dean International
Dr Philippou has held the position of Interim Vice Dean International since September 2024

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Julia Philippou as Vice Dean International for the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care. Dr Philippou has held the Vice Dean International role since September 2024 as an interim role and will now step into the permanent position effective immediately.
Dr Julia Philippou is a Reader in Nursing Education, committed to advancing global health workforce education and development. Her research and leadership concentrate on workforce engagement, with a strong focus on international collaborations that elevate healthcare education standards worldwide.
In her time as Interim Vice Dean International, Julia has been instrumental in expanding the Faculty’s capacity for transnational education, with new agreements in place with various institutions across South and South East Asia. Under her leadership, the Faculty looks back this year at ten years of partnership with Nanjing Vocational Health College, with another partnership agreement in the works.
Julia said: “I’m delighted to be taking on the Vice Dean International role. I’m looking forward to working with colleagues and partners to build on our existing international links and to develop new opportunities that benefit both our staff and students.”
Professor Richard Harding, Executive Dean said: "Since 2024, Julia has been leading the Faculty to develop further opportunities for excellence internationally, from expanding our ability to deliver transnational education to enhancing our connections with postgraduate research opportunities worldwide. I am excited to see the future opportunities that will develop under Julia’s capable leadership.”
