Grieving Gently Week launches to support the King's community navigate loss

Grieving Gently Week is a series of free, inclusive wellbeing events at King’s aimed at supporting students and staff through grief, loss, change, and life transitions.

77% of people you know have experienced grief. It is one of life’s few certainties, yet navigating grief at university can feel isolating and overwhelming.

To support the King’s community through these challenges, School of Politics & Economics (SPE) Opportunity Fund winner Jeremy Wong, working alongside Student Engagement Manager Becky Hart, has facilitated King’s first Grieving Gently Week.

Having experienced loss himself, Jeremy struggled to find spaces where grief felt understood, supported, or openly acknowledged. This experience inspired him to create a dedicated week centred on supporting the King’s community through grief, and loss.

Grieving Gently Week was created to help anyone who has experienced loss. With support from the SPE Opportunity Fund, I’ve organised a week of events at King’s College London to raise awareness around grief and help us better support our community, both students and staff. If you have lost a loved one, are currently grieving, supporting someone else, or carrying something complicated or unspoken, you are warmly invited to join us.

Grieving Gently Week is a three‑part initiative designed to help the King’s community move through grief with care, confidence, and connection. Across the week, the programme focuses on connection, growth, and grounding, offering gentle, inclusive spaces for reflection, belonging, and support.
