Homelessness Research Programme advisory group meeting
The meeting discussed ongoing and proposed research studies
Today saw the 7th meeting of the Homelessness Research Programme’s National Expert via Experience Standing Advisory Group. The group is a collaboration between King’s College London, the London School of Economics and the University of Salford.
Lived-experience members came from as far as Loaves and Fishes in Salford to discuss some of the portfolio of research held by the Homelessness Research Programme, including the HOME study of the health impacts of housing, and the new REACH study of the integration of mental health support in hostels, led by the King’s Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care.
The group also advised on the development of new studies: a King’s-led focus on ending hospital discharge to the street, and a liver care related study, introduced by Prof Sumita Verma from the Brighton and Sussex Liver Research Centre.
Ben Morgan, St Mungo’s, discussed with the group his exploration of multi-agency homeless ‘hubs’, undertaken as an early stage of an NIHR Short Placement Award for Research Collaboration (SPARC).
