The QS World University Rankings by Subject rank 55 subjects from over 1900 higher education institutions across the world. Each institution’s subjects are assessed for their academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper, scholarly research outputs and influence (H-index) and international research network.

In 2026, there are eight subjects where King’s is ranked in the top 15 institutions in the world to study.

What's more, King's is now ranked first in the UK in two subjects - Nursing, which is ranked second globally, and Dentistry, which is ranked fifth globally.

“King’s is building on our historic legacy to reach new levels of achievement, with more subjects ranked in the global top 50 than ever before. The fact we have eight subjects ranked among the top 15 institutions worldwide speaks to the depth and quality of work happening across our community. My thanks to all those whose expertise, commitment, and passion have made this possible.”

Medicine at King's has risen four places since 2025, and is now 11th best in the world (and fifth in the UK). Joining in the top 15 worldwide is Politics, which is 11th, English, Geography and Philosophy which are all ranked 14th in the global scoring, and Psychology which is ranked 15th.

Across broad subject areas, life Sciences and Medicine at King’s rose to ninth globally, with a total score of 88.6% across the performance areas.

The results come after King’s was named 31st best University globally, and fifth in the UK, in the wider QS University world-renowned rankings in June.
