Major new policy report examines 'Axis of Resistance'
King’s College London hosted the launch of a major new policy paper ‘Beyond the Axis,’ a groundbreaking study of Iran’s so-called Axis of Resistance, and the Islamic Republic’s drone proliferation programme.
The report is the culmination of a two-year study by a research team at Century International, a New York-headquartered international affairs think tank, with the support of XCEPT, the Cross-Border Conflict Evidence, Policy and Trends programme, funded by UK International Development.
Drawing on a wealth of mixed methods evidence, the report analyses the evolution of Iran’s relationship with members of the Axis and shows how, in certain cases, its partners have shifted from a reliance on of complete Iranian weapons systems to building their own, later becoming hubs for the cultivation of new partners.
Dr Kevin Mazur, from the Department of Political Economy at King’s, was a contributor to the project and organised the event, with the support of Century International and XCEPT.
On 25 June, an audience of policy makers, academics, and journalists joined for a presentation by the project’s research lead, Century International’s Peter Salisbury, and a panel discussion held under the Chatham House rule.
