The Reverend Professor Jenny Gallagher MBE has been inducted as President of the International Association for Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research (IADR) in a ceremony during the 104th General Session in San Diego, CA, USA, 27th March 2026.

Professor Gallagher’s appointment is an international honour in her field and reflects her longstanding leadership in oral health research and international collaborations.

The IADR is the leading global member organisation for dental, oral, and craniofacial research, working in partnership with the World Health Organization and the World Dental Federation (FDI) to ensure that the global burden of oral disease is recognised and that there is action towards better oral health for all.

IADR is committed to furthering research worldwide for health and wellbeing and promoting oral health across the globe through discovery and dissemination.

Professor Gallagher is the organisation’s 103rd President, and her term will last until June 2027 when the association will hold its next general congress in Melbourne, Australia.

Her theme for her presidential term is ‘Partnership with Purpose’, through which she will champion stronger collaboration of nations, organisations and individuals to advance oral health, support scientific excellence, and turn evidence into meaningful action worldwide.

In her inaugural speech, Jenny said: “I am deeply honoured to have been elected to serve as the 103rd president of this remarkable organisation. I commit to work to strengthen our partnerships and to serve as an advocate for dental, oral, and craniofacial research across my presidential term and beyond.”

Professor Gallagher holds the Distinguished Newland-Pedley Chair in Oral Health Strategy and is an Honorary Consultant in Dental Public Health at King’s. She contributes to education, research, and specialist dental public health practice.

As an Ambassador for International, Engagement & Service, she represents the university collaborating with global partners and leading strategic initiatives focused on strengthening health systems and workforce development.

At this crucial time for oral health in particular, and science generally, I look forward to connecting with IADR members, across our five global regions, during my presidential term as we partner with purpose for health.
