March 8 is International Women's Day, a global day to celebrate and acknowledge the social, cultural, economic and political contributions of women. The 2019 theme is 'Balance for Better', and calls for a reflection on the progress made and the journey ahead to achieve gender equality across the board.
Throughout March, we're elevating and celebrating the #WomenofKings.
From outstanding students to women leading ground-breaking research; from incredible alumnae to entrepreneurs leading the charge; we're spotlighting on the women who are using their voice to champion women's rights and advocate for gender equality.
Earlier in the week, King's brought together alumnae from across the UK and internationally to celebrate women’s leadership. The women’s leadership event was hosted by Baroness Deborah Bull, Vice President and Vice-Principal (London) and Hon Julia Gillard AC, Former Prime Minister of Australia and Chair of the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership.
The first of its kind, the event was created to celebrate the achievements of the impressive King’s alumnae community and showcase the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership, which aims to create a world in which being a woman is not a barrier to becoming a leader in any field.
We're also sharing insights from dozens of women throughout our community about their careers, inspiration and what drives them.
