Among special guests on the group’s modules this year have been former prime minister Tony Blair, former chancellor Norman Lamont, and the current Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.
And, in previous years, students have heard from former prime ministers including Gordon Brown and David Cameron, former chancellor George Osborne, and a host of senior government officials.
Students have also visited 10 Downing Street and HM treasury in London as part of their unique teaching experience.
The Strand Group, overseen by Dr Jon Davis and co-taught by former shadow chancellor Ed Balls, examines the contemporary history of the institutions of the British government and offers optional modules to students studying in the Department of Political Economy.
