Dr Tommy Dickinson has been selected for Fellowship in the American Academy of Nursing. AAN Fellows are nursing leaders in education, management, practice and research.

Tommy is one of only 12 UK-based nurses to receive this accolade and the third Fellow in our Faculty, alongside Professor Ian Norman and Professor Anne Marie Rafferty.

The American Academy of Nursing serves the public and the nursing profession by advancing health policy, practice and science through organisational excellence and effective nursing leadership. Fellows are selected in recognition of their outstanding contribution and achievements in nursing and their impact on health.

Fellows in the Academy work with other healthcare leaders to develop and share expert nursing knowledge in areas such as nursing education; quality improvement of health and nursing care; promoting healthy ageing; reducing healthcare inequalities and integrating mental and physical health.

I feel truly privileged and delighted to be selected to be part of this esteemed Fellowship. I’m very much looking forward to working with other Fellows in the Academy to strengthen nursing education and the health delivery system, nationally, and internationally.
