Unit Director Annette Boaz spoke at a King’s Health Partners workforce event on Thursday 9 July at the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering.

Prof Boaz contributed to a panel on the role of university health partnerships in creating an equitable workforce with fantastic colleagues from across the South London health and care system. She spoke about the importance of recognising the existing social care workforce when talking about the shift from hospital to community-based care. The social care workforce is under significant pressure, lacks visibility and recognition for the important work they do. She flagged the work being undertaken as part of the King's Better Health & Care Hub to advocate for the whole ‘Careforce’ of people who surround and support individuals with chronic conditions.

Prof Boaz also committed to sharing the work undertaken by the NIHR Health & Social Care Workforce Research Unit on international recruited staff, widening participation in the NHS workforce and sickness absence. She was joined at the event by Kalpa Kharicha, Kritika Samsi, Olivia Luijnenburg, Ian Kessler, Caroline Norrie and Antonina Semkina from the Unit and also colleagues from the Policy Institute at King’s College London.
