Our mission

We’re shaping the future of healthcare. By inspiring the next generation of nurses and midwives to be curious and compassionate. By researching the unexplored and most challenging areas. By joining forces with others and creating a network of global connections.

If we’re going to make a difference, we need to embrace the power we have to influence healthcare. To spread the word that degree qualified nurses are positively associated with lower mortality rates and better patient care.

We’ve come a long way since our pioneers, Florence Nightingale and Cicely Saunders, built the foundations of care. But there’s still work for us to do.

So we’ll relentlessly carry on teaching, researching and networking while growing a close-knit community of experts who share our ambitions and join our mission.

With Brexit and funding changes, there has never been a more challenging time for the education of nurses and midwifes in the UK.

Our courses are designed to prepare students for their career. We provide placements in world-class hospitals, build confidence using patient simulators and hire experts in the field to teach.

We help our students become compassionate carers fuelled by knowledge and driven to provide the best care. When they graduate, we encourage them to join our alumni community or return to King’s to extend their learning.

To promote evidence-based practice, we think it’s crucial to provide qualified nurses, midwives and other healthcare professionals the chance to continue their learning through professional development.

Working closely with patients, practitioners, policy makers and experts, we’re developing robust research that provides an evidence base for professionals in practice and improves care for patients and their families.

We’re leading the way in palliative care and rehabilitation by discovering new treatment to relieve symptoms, pain and suffering. But more importantly, finding ways to identify problems earlier.

We’re the academic partner in King’s Health Partners, along with three of the UK’s best NHS Trusts. As part of the Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC), we make sure breakthroughs are applied to practice.

Discover the impact of our research

With partnerships in China and Singapore and research across Europe, Africa and Asia, we’re connecting education and healthcare professionals around the globe. Working together, we improve care and raise the standard of nursing internationally.

Because of our connections, students get a comprehensive clinical education and the chance to work on placements in healthcare all over the world.

Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion

Our intention is to embed equality, diversity and inclusion in to everything we do. We want our policies, practices and processes to empower individuals to be able to contribute fully. We want King’s to reflect the diversity of London, and for our doors to be open to anyone with the capabilities to succeed.

The Faculty is proud to hold two Athena SWAN Silver Awards, in Nursing and Midwifery and in the Cicely Saunders Institute.
